The Spring Mills Cardinals Varsity fall 8-7 after big East Hardy (Baker, WV) comeback

The Spring Mills Cardinals Varsity saw victory slip away on Monday when a seven-run fifth inning lead disappeared after a furious charge from East Hardy , who ended up with a 8-7 win at East Hardy High School.

Colby Werry racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Spring Mills Cardinals Varsity. He doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Ashton Mathias got the win in relief for East Hardy . Mathias pitched three innings and allowed no runs.

East Hardy was sparked by Brett Tharp and Clay Skovron, who teamed up for four hits and six RBIs.

Tyler Kerns ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

In the top of the first, the Spring Mills Cardinals Varsity grabbed the early lead, 2-0. The Spring Mills Cardinals Varsity attack began with a double from Cody Hammond. Bryant Scheuch singled, scoring Werry and Hammond.

East Hardy went up for good in the seventh, scoring six runs on two doubles, a home run by Tharp, and an RBI single by Mathias.
